This Privacy Policy describes how the Peoria County Government Transparency Portal (“the Portal,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, and safeguards information when you visit this site. By using the Portal, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

  • Submit a Correction: Name, email address, and the correction details you submit through our public records correction form.
  • Contact Us: Any information you include when reaching out through our contact forms.
  • Use the FOIA Request Builder: Information you enter is processed locally in your browser and is not transmitted to or stored by our servers unless you explicitly submit a form.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit the Portal, our web server may automatically collect certain technical information, including your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring web page, pages visited, and date and time of access. This information is used for security and to improve the Portal, and is not used to identify individual users or shared for marketing purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to respond to correction submissions, improve public records accuracy, maintain Portal performance, comply with applicable laws, and detect abusive activity. We do not sell, rent, or transfer your personal information to outside parties.

3. Public Records and Transparency Data

This Portal publishes information about public officials, government employees, taxing bodies, and related government records sourced from publicly available records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140/). If you believe information about you has been published in error, please use our Submit a Correction form.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The Portal may use session cookies to support basic site functionality. These cookies do not contain personally identifiable information and are deleted when you close your browser. We do not use persistent tracking cookies, third-party advertising cookies, or behavioral profiling technologies.

5. Data Retention

Correction submissions are retained for three (3) years then securely deleted. Server log data is retained for ninety (90) days then purged. Public records displayed on the Portal are retained indefinitely.

6. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and administrative measures to protect collected information. No method of Internet transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Third-Party Links

The Portal links to external government websites and resources. These sites are not operated by us and are subject to their own privacy policies.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Portal is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

9. Your Rights

To request access, correction, or deletion of personal information you have submitted to us, use the correction form on this site. We will respond within thirty (30) days.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date above. Continued use of the Portal after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
